1st Family Holiday

It feels like an age ago now but Russ and I just got back from our first family holiday. We took the twins to Spain for 2 weeks and it was wonderful. The weather was gorgeous so the boys spent most of their time just in their nappies which they love (they have a real aversion to getting dressed) They had just started on solids before we left, so we had lots of fun trying out different foods, it turns out they have expensive taste, avocado and mangoes being 2 of their favourite (cheap in Spain but not so cheap or delicious here) They had their first dip in a pool, sand in their mouths at the beach, Ellis learnt to roll and Sam to sit and they both got their first bottom 2 teeth.

The best bit for me was having Russ there all day everyday it made life so much easier, 2 pairs of hands for 2 babies is just right! We did manage to squeeze in a little bit of time for our selves, as soon as the boys went down for their lunch time nap we jumped in the pool, madly swam a few lengths, grabbed our books, lay in the sun and then ate a delicious lunch that we had sensibly prepared earlier, all in all it was a huge success.

Here's a little photo story of Ellis's reaction to Raspberries.

"hhhmmmmmm do I like raspberries?"

"I think Sam likes raspberries?"

"I do like raspberries, very much

"I will try one"

"hhmmmmmmm not quite sure?"

"I wonder if Ellis is liking his raspberry?"

"I think................."

"I think I like them very much"

"Ellis this is also called a raspberry"

"Sam it is no laughing matter, I am now very seriously into raspberries"

Stationery

We have so many new gorgeous things for sale in our stationery section I don't even know where to begin.

First up! The "Playtime Collection" made by our friends at 1973. 12 gorgeous designs for every occasion... these are available as greetings cards that come with a kraft envelope (£2.50) and also as postcards for 80p each or the whole set of 12 for £8 (saving of £1.60!)

The muted colours are just so nostalgic and beautiful and they're printed on an off white textured board. We love them!

There's also two new wrapping papers.

Classic Wrap

Party Parade Wrap - a perfect match to our party range. It would make wonderful "pass the parcel" wrapping paper!

Both wraps are sold for £10 for 4 sheets of 50cm x 70cm paper.

And lastly, our new sticky tape with a super cute carousel design. I used some on a parcel I was posting the other day and it got lots of attention from the post office staff! Always a good sign.

Ibby International Congress & Fun in the Park Day

Bit late in sharing these events with you (as they both happened a few months ago!) - but better late than never!

Belle & Boo were at the IBBY International Congress in London!

"The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) is a non-profit organisation which represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together."

We were delighted to be involved. Orchard Books put on a special Belle & Boo afternoon tea and Kate gave everyone a sneak peak into the world of Belle & Boo, a bit about Mandy and the team and what was in store for the brand.

The lectern where Kate did her speech!

Also, back in June, we were involved with the Bristol Fun in the Park day. We were thrilled to donate badges which ended up in the goodie bags.

Here's an excerpt from the thank you letter we received from the Bristol City Council.

"I am writing to thank you very much for your generous donation for our annual ‘Fun in the Park’, which was held at St Andrews Park on June 21st 2012.
We estimate over 500 parents, carers and children attended during the morning, enjoying a wide range of activities. Everyone was having a wonderful time until our British weather let us down with a downpour just after lunch time.  Parents and carers were excited to receive a goodie bag filled full of donated useful items/products, and the programme of the day highlighted these donors. "

Bristol

Russ and I are just starting to really get out and about a little further with the boys... at first a trip to the local coffee shop was a half day event! The other weekend on one of the few sunny days we have had this summer we took a walk along Bristol harbourside, it really is lovely.

I especially liked the floating harbour, it reminded me of the High Line in New York and that made me think just how much mine & Russ's lives have changed in such a short period of time. I never mentioned before on the blog that when we took the trip to New York back in April last year there was a possibility of Russ accepting a job over there, we had pretty much decided we would move when I found out I was expecting twins! Isn't life weird, wonderful and unpredicatable.
After our walk we ate fresh spicy thai food and soaked up some much needed sun whilst the boys napped. I can't wait to explore Bristol and the surrounding areas a little more.

Shops

Last weekend my husband and I popped in the car and drove to the incredibly quaint seaside town of Whitstable.

We had a lovely time eating lots of seafood,  and then exploring all the little shops (the weather was too wet and windy to actually enjoy the beach!). I was utterly delighted when I stumbled across Buttercup, a children's boutique on Harbour St because it was filled with Belle & Boo!

It was lovely to meet the owner Mary-Jane and browse this utterly gorgeous shop. Belle & Boo aside, the shop is stocked with lots charming things especially some lovely wooden pull along horses that I simply cannot stop thinking about.  So, if you're ever in Whitstable, I highly recommend popping in to Buttercup and saying hello to Mary-Jane and while you're at it, Belle & Boo too!

A beautiful shop window that we've spied online is Bella Vita all the way over in Oakland, California. Jennifer has done an amazing job styling this Belle & Boo window. From the typewriter to the Belle & Boo bunting we're just in love with it all. Am I alone in wishing that the Carousel skirt, peter pan blouse and necklace was big enough for an adult to wear? It just looks so lovely together!
